We’re hiring an early to mid career digital marketing project manager (minimum 2 years experience) to help effectively manage Liquid Spark client and agency projects proactively, efficiently, on time, and on budget.

We’re a 100% remote team based across the USA. One of our digital nomads currently works from Europe. Our original headquarters, back in the pre-covid office days, is in Bryson City, NC, where the company was founded.

Project Manager: Your Primary Function

The project manager is responsible for coordinating the marketing project team to ensure that client discrete projects and client monthly retainer services are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.  An effective project manager frees up our marketing team to have more time to create, plan, strategize and deliver exceptional marketing initiatives and campaigns.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have 2 years prior experience managing marketing agency or client projects as a project manager.

  • Must enjoy numbers and data and be proficient with spreadsheets. Project management is about getting the numbers right, as well as managing team and client needs.
  • We are willing to train and invest in the right person who has a strong natural aptitude for project management, loves processes, systems and efficient tools.

  • Keen interest in staying up to date on the latest project management platforms, capabilities, and tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well remotely. We are a 100% remote team.

  • Stellar communication skills; able to write clear and accurate copy internally and to clients

  • Must understand and have experience with basic marketing tools, processes, and systems. Examples include:

    • Google Drive, Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Calendars and GSuite
    • Media Library tools: Dropbox, Box, Smugmug, other
    • Video Conferencing: Skype, Zoom, Loom, Google Meet, Slack
    • Project management software – Examples include:  Basecamp (we use this), Trello, Asana, Teamwork, etc.
    • WordPress websites for content updates (not technical development)
    • Canva – or similar basic design platform
    • Mailchimp – or other email marketing platforms
  • Interest in Adventure Travel & Tourism: Our team has deep experience in the adventure travel & tourism industry as guides, leaders, and customers, so specific experience within the adventure tourism & travel industry is not required. Personal interest in outdoor recreation and adventure is needed. Novices and total newbies to outdoor adventure are welcome; passion and interest is what we are looking for!

  • Internet Access Requirements: High speed, consistent broadband internet required, with backup plan in place. No exceptions.  Minimum acceptable broadband speeds: 25-30MB download, minimum upload 5-10MB

Major Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for ensuring onboarding of new clients.
  2. Responsible for the project set up: this includes the translation of the Statement of Work (SOW) into internal documents and project management system.
  3. Provide ongoing feedback and support in the improvement of our internal processes for client deliverables.
  4. Ensure optimal organization of working files, etc.
  5. Responsible for bringing project timing and budget concerns to the President.
  6. Responsible for Project SOW addendums and scope creep.
  7. Responsible for monthly invoicing prep: this includes ensuring team timesheets are completed appropriately and creating summary project work summaries by billable client.
  8. Ensures completion of team project debriefs and file organization for finished projects.
  9. Proactively find and create better processes wherever possible.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation: Hourly contractor rate, based on experience.

This is a contractor position starting at 10-15 hours per week. This position has the potential and objective to develop into a full time employee role. A great project manager will help us get there faster by freeing up our account teams to take on more terrific client projects!
